The build theme today is emulating a 1950s Butterscotch Blonde Telecaster with the Blackguard but in a Stratocaster.

I started with gathering the parts.

I really like the Mighty Mite 2905 neck series for a maple neck. They are Fender Licensed, and the specs are spot on. I can pick up an finished neck for around $139. Then all I need to do is install a set of vintage tuners with 10mm conversion sleeves. I have left the lings for everything I am talking about in the video description.

This neck already has a finish and a nut but no tuners.

Tuners:

I purchased the body from Sams Guitar Shop, and it is described as 2 piece Alder with all Fender Specs. I paid $159 plus shipping.

For the internals to the guitar sometimes when I do not feel like building out a wiring harness I will look on Stratosphere.com and they regularly have loaded Fender pickguards that have been pulled from a damaged guitar. Everything is brand new from the factory. For this build I purchased a Description: Official Fender AV Il American Vintage 1973 Reissue Strat Loaded Pickguard complete with Pure Vintage '73 Single Coil Strat Pickups, Pots, 5 Position Switch, and
Knobs (complete set) - All original w/ screws- Genuine Fender for $199. So, I basically got all of the electronics and pickups out of a $2000 guitar for $199.

I moved all the electronics into a single ply black pickguard.

For the bridge I installed a Fender MIM vintage style bridge with 2 1/16th spacing.

For the video I installed three nickel telecaster knobs. This morning, I pulled them and installed a set of black Stratocaster knobs – of which I think it looks cleaner and better.

I love the sound out of the 70s AV II pickups. Very Stratocaster like and clean.

A note: I did not include pricing for the most part because it changes all the time. I did however keep a running total and I built this guitar for $675 including shipping.

Sweet build man! I have an original all black 1979 with a maple neck, which I love. Always wanted to build one similar so I could have one for gigs and not worry about it as much. I prefer the larger headstock cbs era necks, and I noticed might mite has o w with a rosewood finger board. Thinking about grabbing it, I never really knew the quality of mighty mite necks.

I just took 2 cheap guitars to a pawn shop, traded both for a PRS with a chip in the headstock, then traded the PRS for a strat with the plastic still on it and a hard case. So I have about $250 in $1000 of gear πŸ‘½
