Thermoacoustic Stirling/Hybrid Heat Engine V2.1

This is a very interesting heat engine as there are characteristics of the classical type Stirling engine. Yet, with the absence of a physical secondary piston there are thermoacoustic principles in operation. I first saw this type of heat engine on Metronome Heat Engine YouTube Channel.

The spacers are critical for the unit to operate. When fully assembled you should be able to easily push down on the shaft and the steel wool assembly should touch the bottom of the can. In the ones I built I found it to be a downward movement of about 1/4 of an inch max. If it is too close the unit will clang and energy is wasted as the unit just bangs the bottom of the can. If too big a space the heat cannot be fully absorbed by the steel wool at the bottom of the can. A side note is a flat bottomed container works best.

hello, awesome!
thank you for sharing, would you have the exact dimensions for operation with approximately the correct length of the pipe for the air inlet?
Thanks a lot !

I will build this. Would aluminum be better than stainless steel?
