This is an American thing. Most British people glottolise the T in casual conversation. Here in Newcastle you wont even get that you'll get "lirally" and barely hear the R in that. Which is why i have always made the effort to pronounce my consonants despite my Geordie accent.

Technically it usually isn’t a voiced alveolar plosive(aka d) but rather a voiced alveolar tap (or the “soft d”), although they’re pretty similiar
