Repentance is when you come to the truth of 1 John 2:14 - If you CLAIM to be a Christian but do not LIVE like a Christian, you are a LIAR and the truth is not in you. I was a liar for 38+ years. Went to church every Sunday morning, most Sunday and Wednesday evenings but did not LIVE like a Christian at all . . . . After 'God' called me to repentance, I STOPPED doing all the unChristian behavior I did those 38 years. NOT saying I no longer sin, am saying I no longer do a lot of the things I used to do and when I used to do them, didn't care that I did them. That is repentance.

Itâs cool to see this because this morning my pastor was speaking of security in Christ from Rom. 10:11 and how some people grieve (wrongly) so much over their sin that they doubt their own salvation. These go hand-in-hand.

Repentance means to have one's mind and heart changed. It means to turn from one's sins and turning to the Lord Jesus Christ. But the clincher is that repentance is a gift. Although the volition or will does cooperate in repentance, repentance itself is impossible unless a person has first been unconditionally elected in eternity before creaton. Repentance is equally impossible unless that same person has first been MONERGISTICALLY raised from spiritual death by being born again by the power of the Holy Spirit. The will or volition is PASSIVE in regeneration. That is, the will does not cooperate in regeneration, because it is IMPOSSIBLE for a spiritual dead person to come to repentance. Likewise, perseverance is also monergistic. Only a born again person is kept by the power of God unto salvation. You cannot keep yourself saved by the power of the will.

This is completely works based. I rebuke you for preaching damnable heresy. Repentance means a change of mind. Mstanoia is to have a change of mind. Is turning from sin required for saving faith. If your answer is yes my next question is how many sins need to be turned from. This is a false gospel. The reformed church is the modern day pharisees.

Both Peter & Judas Iscariot were given power over demons and to heal the sick. Both reported success. Jesus declared His wish that they both receive salvation.
Jesus died reconciling them both to himself.
Judas Iscariot denied Christ then profited off the betrayal. He grieved but never believed the witness of the Holy Spirit, so repented and is judged to eternal hell.
Peter denied the Messiah Jesus 3 times! He grieved bitterly but then repented accepting the conviction of the Holy Spirit about Sin, Righteousness and Judgement, knowing Jesus had born the burden of Peterâs sin. Peter then appealed to God for a clear conscience with a pure motive, to be one with Christ.

I grew up in a church where emotion was expressed, and sinners would go to the altar and get 'saved' only to never reappear. There were tears and grief, but no one explained what repentance was. Until I turned away from my sin and towards Christ to become a follower who trusts in his grace, I was no better.
