www.naturalborncoaches.com/podcasts/episode-922-je… So what, when you mentioned that you started in the coaching world and selling courses and things like that in 2004, 2005, I'm like, oh wow. That makes you the Obi one Kenobi of the coaching world or the Yoda? Yoda's older than Obi one. I think he's like a Sure, sure.
A bit of an elder statesman. I actually started, uh, as a coach in.
2000, uh, 2004, 2005 is when we started actually running courses, uh, for coaches. But, uh, but yeah, I went to work for Tony Robbins, uh, drove out to San Diego, uh, and he dumped, uh, 70 to 80 clients a month on my, uh, on my plate. And it was a trial by fire and it was, uh, it was quite a learning experience. Got a lot of coaching chops in that year and a half I worked with to,
yeah, that's the best way to learn, right?
Just get thrown right into the deep end of the pool.

In the ever-evolving world of coaching, few individuals stand out as pioneers who have weathered the changes and emerged as leaders. Today, we delve into the journey of one such veteran, exploring the insights and experiences that shaped his career in coaching.
The Early Years of Coaching
In a candid conversation, Marc Mawhinney remarks on the early days of his coaching career, which began in 2000. It was a time when coaching was transforming, and innovative minds started exploring new ways to deliver value.
An anecdote captures the enthusiasm of those days: "So, when you mentioned that you started in the coaching world and selling courses and things like that in 2004, 2005, I'm like, oh wow. That makes you the Obi-Wan Kenobi of the coaching world or the Yoda. Yoda's older than Obi-Wan, I think."
This light-hearted comparison between coaching veterans and legendary figures from the Star Wars saga illustrates the reverence and respect accorded to those who forged the path early on.
Trial by Fire: The Tony Robbins Experience
Jeffrey Sooey recounts the pivotal moment in his coaching journey when he joined Tony Robbins in San Diego: "It was a trial by fire and it was quite a learning experience."
The opportunity to work with Tony Robbins brought with it significant challenges. Jeffrey was tasked with managing 70 to 80 clients a month, a daunting task for anyone new to the industry. Through this demanding experience, he honed his skills, learning what it takes to thrive when the stakes are high.
As he puts it, "Got a lot of coaching chops in that year and a half I worked with Tony Robbins." This period of intense development was foundational for Jeffrey, transforming him into a seasoned coach with the depth of experience only such trials could imbue.
Marc Mawhinney reflects on Jeffrey's trajectory with admiration, noting, "Yeah, that's the best way to learn, right? Just get thrown right into the deep end of the pool."
Diving into the complexities of coaching without hesitation, Jeffrey embraced the challenges, turning obstacles into stepping stones for greater achievements. His journey underscores the invaluable lessons gained through direct, hands-on experiences.
In the journey from the early days of coaching to becoming a leader in the field, the experiences of pioneers like Jeffrey Sooey and others serve as a beacon for aspiring coaches.
