Recently Rahul Gandhi and Amit Shah's stock market portfolio went viral on social media.
Somewhere this portfolio is just the tip of the iceberg (as everyone thinks!)
When I researched about it, I got to know a few things. According to the Representation of the People Act 1951 and Exchange Board of India 1992, Politicians have to be careful about these 3 things:
1) The politician has to declare all of his or her investments to the Election Commission of India.
2) The politician cannot misuse their powers to manipulate any stocks.
3) No politician can use the stock market for money laundering and bribes. (money laundering and bribes are illegal anyway but in this act, it is specifically about the stock market)
So, do you think this stock market is just the tip of the iceberg? Share your thoughts in the comments.
