I am almost 40. I love going to my parents' house, staying and just hanging out with them sometimes for weeks.

My mother was abusive; my dad was often neglectful. But l grew up to be thoughtful and respectful due to teachers and the parents of friends--l observed the behavior of more functional families and emulated. My mom was not considered a good parent by neighbors and social workers; in other words, that's not my opinion only. Now, though l do try to do right and avoid wrong, things are not perfect: l have suffered deep depression and overwhelm my entire life, and at 60+, l never married. ✅️Here's the point l am making: there's more to why some people end up being "good" than the explanation you're providing. And even if the grown child is a relatively good person, he/she might be suffering a great deal in other ways.

Barukh Hashem.. my college daughter always nagging for coming home, she always misses home, we are 11.350km apart. She is applauded with her politeness and dignity from her friends' parent, which I'm proud to listen to.

I beg to differ u can be the most loving protector provider to your child even assimilate the same behaviour an ur child chooses his or her own journey i just wish parents can be excused from children behaviour either good or bad an say I DID THE BEST THAT I CAN

I feel like there is a fine line. As an ex Elementary school teacher.. The apple never fell far from the tree. I figured that out the first parent teacher interview Every new School year. But... There are anomalies, like me. I was raised with abuse and neglect. And I know that I am a good kind generous person who does well. I never drank and I have multiple degrees that have helped me out in life etc. My point that I stayed focused and self loved. It's interesting how some can make it out with no help from their parents.
But absolutely parents are to blame or praise for their child's development.

I do not like going home. But grew up to be honest, kind and generous. I did have a problem with people pleasing and lack of boundaries that I had to work on and still working.
