a good way I've prevented myself from overconsumption is just thinking about how my outfit would look from far away. For example if I was eyeing a pair of bright pinstripe pants, but I already have an extremely similar pair in another bright colour and without the stripes, that could be used to the exact same effect without much of a difference then I don't need it.
Tldr shopping for exact replicas of pieces you saw in your pins almot GUARANTEES overconsumption. just recreate the role the piece is playing in the outfit that you're looking at

hooray for the go-to trousers!! Those are so cute with the blue shirt!! I have my favorite go to trousers too, had them about 12 years from Banana Republic. They never let me down! Shopping the closet is becoming more and more fun...the more i do this, the less impulse I have to add anything. Feels so good.
