As a laser professional I'm amazed these have a low power 940nm VCSEL shoehorned into them. edit: it must be made on a different process to the main IC as completely different doping/etc requirements for laser emission. It looks bonded on? Very cool.

I was messing with my flipper zero reading raw IR signals and it was reading something like 50-200 samples instantly and i was really confused but after looking at my idle phone while in VR on my quest 2 and noticed a beam coming from the top of my phone and realized thats what i was picking up on my flipper. Petty cool to find that out and even cooler to get to see the part. Im digging the content man keep up the good work.

It is astounding that so much technology can be shoved into one incredibly small piece. Thank you for the breakdown.

Stumbled across your page and instant follow. Don’t know anything about this stuff. How did humans figure out how to get all this to work together and so small now too!!

I like the old chips better, the wingdings and initials that they put on the dies are cool. I have an old HDD that has about 15 signatures on the actuator.
