I would recommend using outdoor rated cat cable, that white jacket will become brittle out in the weather and when you terminate, you need to have the jacket inside the connector so that you will crimp it down.

itā€™s waterproof but the hole you put in their house isnā€™t. itā€™s not sealed plus water can follow the cord down in because you didnā€™t leave a drip loop

White cable is almost never outdoor rated

Need to drop the wire below the hole in the wall then back up to avoid water travelling down wire directly into wall. Silicone around the wire as wellā€¦

You fucked up the rj45 connector - the cable sleeve is supposed to be inside the transparent connector - you cut it too short.

Looks okay, but I have a few recommendations. I would recommend a UniFi setup, and shielded cable thatā€™s rated for outdoor use. That white cat6 will look ugly yellow here pretty soon.

Also helpful is an inline lightening arrester, especially when doing POE.

Dude you pinched the wires not the sleave, that can cause issues.

I donā€™t think wire is UV rated. And your crimps are pretty rough.

Iā€™d just use Mesh-WIFI, I have 100% full coverage around my house without any down-time whilst switching between M-WIFI Routers. The only thing you need is a base station connected to your main ethernet line (mineā€™s connected directly to the box of my ISP) and then the rest act as extenders taking internet from both the base and the sub stations. All sub stations get their power from a regular wall outlet, and you also can connect 2 ethernet cables to the sub stations for a direct connection which may not aid in faster internet as the subs are also receiving over WIFI, however if your Laptop or Desktop can get a faster connection using cable instead of using the integrated WIFI module, you at least get that directly and without any more loss from the sub station.

The big thing with those ethernet jacks is to get the pass-through like you had.. I accidentally got the other ones and it was a giant pain! Never going back

You need to crimp the sleeve.

I would have used Unifi.

Using a $10 ā€œcable testerā€ off Amazon instead of one that can actually measure and tell you if youā€™ve got a good signal going down the cable.

You don't need to protect the downstream devices šŸ˜‚

Very nice crimping the rj45 on there as a non tech! For this kinda thing I do prefer and recommend wireless network extenders. All you need is an outlet to extend and theyā€™re quite powerful so I would put them on the inside of the home along the outside wall and unless youā€™re trying to cover multiple acres itā€™ll easily reach and serve several hundred megabytes per second. If itā€™s a yard on the smaller side then you can just position a higher end wireless router closer to an outside wall and easily cover it all
