🔑 Steps to Study a Subject You Hate
1. Find the “why”
Ask: Why do I need this subject? Maybe it’s for exams, a career, or just passing to move forward. Having a reason makes it easier to tolerate.
2. Break it into small goals
Don’t aim to “study 3 chapters.” Instead: “I’ll do 20 minutes, just one section.” This lowers resistance.
3. Use active study methods
Teach the concept out loud as if you’re explaining to a friend.
Turn it into questions & answers (flashcards, quizzes).
Solve problems instead of just reading.
4. Pair it with what you like
Example: Set a timer—30 minutes of the boring subject, then reward yourself with 10 minutes of something you enjoy.
5. Change your environment
Sometimes you “hate” a subject because of how/where you study it. Try a new place, sit with friends, or use YouTube explanations instead of textbooks.
6. Gamify it
Track progress with a checklist.
Challenge yourself: “If I finish 2 topics, I can watch an episode / scroll for 10 min.”
7. Connect it to real life
Even if it’s boring, look for ways it appears around you (math in money, physics in daily life, history in movies). Relevance reduces hatred.
8. Just start
Most of the “hate” is before starting. Once you get into it, it usually feels less painful.
👉 Pro tip: Don’t aim to “love” the subject. Aim to tolerate it long enough to score well or move past i
