I'm an Airframe & Powerplant mechanic and this is all correct. Airplane tires have a very hard life, going from a standstill to ~200mph in an instant. That said, they are well made and quite durable. They can actually be retreaded many times and even some visible sidewall cracking is acceptable.

Man, things are always so much more complicated when you actually look into them. Never would have guessed this otherwise but it makes perfect sense

so you don’t need N2 in your car tires unless you’re braking at 150mph?

Oh, so that's why all the tires I was filling with water were exploding. Guess I owe the families of all those victims an apology. You live, you learn.

might want to mention what “dry” air is. i know it sounds simple but not everyone will put the pieces together that regular air has water in it etc.

Before you New Yorkers break an arm patting yourselves on the back, you may want to check out the Rookery building in Chicago from 15 years earlier. A steel structure with a Frank Lloyd Wright lobby. Truly magnificent.

Water expands so so much. Its a problem when injecting something aqueous on a gc.
