Tbh I think moms need to be honest to there girls if they are pretty, average, or ugly.
But also reiterated that for every guy that wants a barbie there is another who wants a fiona & that NOT looking like a 10 or stereotypically beautiful is not the end of the world.

I can see OP's intentions but i can also see how the daughter feels like
OP was trying to make the daughter feel she wasn't ugly and stuff
But the daughter also needed the reassurance that shes pretty due to the bullying being bad so saying she honestly thinks shes pretty would have helped more than saying she was "average" and so now she feels she isn't pretty
So I'd say they are and aren't the AH in this cause did what they say hurt and wasn't the complete right thing to say if the daughter(not saying if they weren't but especially sense they are) in a sensitive state of mind it made the daughter feel worse but also they aren't the AH because I am also equally honest af so it could have been a miss interpretation of what OP ment by "average"
So yes and no and im not completely defending OP's statement nor am I saying that they arent a AH for their statement so im in the middle
