Music is so complex I can’t believe there are people out there trying to ADD more complexity to it

This is where the "Perfect Pitch" crumbles!

A great video which explains both what 24TET is and why we don't bother with it!

I once had a melody in my head and i wanted to play it on the piano so i sat down and started searching the correct keys. But i couldnt find a key because the pitch i had in my mind was inbetween 2 keys on the piano. That was kinda frustrating.

My ears normally hate microtonal music, but King Gizzard seem to be the only band that manages it in a way that I really enjoy – anyone keen to get their beaks wet with this type of music should have a listen to Flying Microtonal Banana.

Listening to that sample he played gives us a good understanding of why we use 12 and not 24.

I love the sound of that piece ❤ The unique approach to using quarter tones and the atmosphere Wyschnegradsky created in his pieces is so fascinating. Using two pianos is a very interesting approach to making quarter tones accessible to a piano piece, neat idea.

I find microtonality very interesting but hard to listen to.
I do enjoy when it's subtle like King Gizzard did or how Sevish do it. If people have things similar to suggest, I am really up for it !

Quite interesting. I think microtonality is usual in Indian music, if I'm not wrong...

I love the idea of soft rules. And how you apply it to the extended chords having all the notes up to the one named in the chord is perfect. Id always tell my friends, who know very little theory, that when you have a C11, the 7th and 9th are implied but dont necessarily have to be there, and that would confuse them. Definitely gonna be using that idea to explain things in that nature.

Edit: I wasn't big on that particular voicing of maj11 but I do like using one where you play a regular maj9 chord ( emaj9 starting on A string: 7, 6, 8, 7) and then adding the 11 on the high e with the bottom part of my pointer finger from time to time. One because it can sound cool and also I've never seen someone use that technique. Its similar to playing a maj7 voicing on the E string (Gmaj7: 3, X, 4, 4, 3, 2) and using your pointer finger to play that last 7th on the high e.
