Sabbath was always Saturday, Jesus was crucified on Friday and they rushed to put Him in the tomb because they could not do work on the sabbath, then on Sunday Mary and others went to the tomb to find the stone rolled away and Jesus was gone. That’s why we go to church on Sundays, to gather and rejoice on the same day of the week. The sabbath was part of the law, Jesus didn’t come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. Meaning those whom believe in Him and follow His commandments do not have to do everything the law said, like sacrificing animals , because Jesus was our sacrifice.
And why was the stone rolled away? So that everyone could see He had resurrected, because He walked thru walls later when He was with His disciples. Thus He could have walked through the stone but He rolled it away. He folded the linens He was wrapped in because even back then, if you folded your napkin and left a table, the servants knew the folded napkin meant you will return. He told us by that simple gesture alone He will be returning.
