Tape measures can be adjusted and you should never let the tip slam into the body when closing the tape, it's bad for it.

You know if you let your tape slam shut all the time, it bends the catch out some. So it will measure long. The correct way to see if there the same is BURN ONE INCH YA DUMMIES!!!

the tang on a tape measure over time will start to wear and where the rivets go through it the holes basically ream theirself out and thats why you'll have 2 different measurements.. now if they were both brand new never used then you could argue your point
