I bought the Max, it's next gen because it uses latest codecs and I can not only hear the bass I can feel it. I played it at low volume for a couple of hours and the battery stayed at 80% and if I play MP3 music that is low volume in original form, plenty of room to turn it up to reasonable volume, that is important to me. 10

What you pay extra for is to get that sound in a smaller package. It still doesn't go as deep as I'd WISH it would, but that's physics, and it's deeper than most in this size. It's still very impressive from my first few days of having it (mostly at low volume at work).

Have a hyperboom for office/home and bose soundlink max for outdoors due to convenient size. Each one has their pros and cons.

P.s...I want the most detailed sound at low to moderate volume so what's the verdict on that score? Are most YouTube music videos in stereo anyway? Thanks in advance to all that give their opinions.
