Now some background: I did my MS for free in UIUC and dropped out of MBA at NYU. I have worked on Wall Street and been mentoring study abroad aspirants in India, Asia, Middle East and US for more than a decade. Plus, we mentor MS students to find jobs at MAANG and many of them are working now in Meta, Amazon, Tesla, Salesforce etc etc. So, I know what works.

Today, I want to share 3 biggest mistakes students make that prevent them from finding jobs in US 👀

📌 Study non STEM courses - please stop going for non STEM courses. Even if you are interested in marketing, go for digital marketing or analytics which might be STEM in some unis. Always look for a STEM alternative in your areas of interest

📌 Go for 1 year courses with no internships - Internships are hands down the best way to find full-time jobs. I don’t get it why anyone would go for a course which offers no internships in this job market

📌 Focusing on grades alone and leave no time for networking - call it meeting people, making mentors, engaging with relationship building activities or whatever you want. It is very hard to land a job by isolating yourself. Start building your support circle from day one because most of the opportunities will come when someone does you a favor or refers you etc. People are everything!

📌 Going for an expensive course and stressing over the fee (please go for what you can afford)
