So many of us undereat protein in our diets.

This is especially true when we're looking to make aesthetic changes.

If you train consistently and you're looking to gain muscle or lose fat, research suggests that between 0.7 to 1.2g of protein per pound of bodyweight is optimal for the best results.

Here's what 120g of protein looks like:

100g of egg whites - 11 grams of protein
1 can of tuna - 36g of protein
28g of turkey jerky - 12g of protein
2 sticks of string cheese - 14g of protein
8oz of steak - 48g of protein

There are a ton of great options to add protein to your daily intake; these are just a few of them!

My dietician told me to eat the amount of protein to what I desire my weight to be. I realized that I still come in a little under only by 4 or 5 grams though.

I just want to give a shout out to the phenomenally awesome level of definition in Cori's back muscles! 👏👏👏 That mid lower back area looks like a leaf! I didn't even know they could look that defined. Amazing. A testament to Cori's hard work and level of expertise.
PS I took a screenshot so I could show it to my hubby. 😊 #Goals

It's sadly not physically possible for me, whenever i increase my amount...due to the sulfur content this flares me up big time. Alternative sources of protein like plant based aren't great either with autoimmune disease.

This is amazing- I’m pretty sure I’m only
Eating enough to gain muscle. I don’t even have much of an appetite a lot of the time (my body’s hunger cues are thrown off due to medication) so to eat what I do now is pretty good.

I listened to a doctor on here that said something along lines of our bodies aren’t able to absorb anymore than 30gs of protein in any one time window/1 meal sitting - cannot for life of me remember where this was but it was a qualified doctor - is this something you’ve ever heard of before?xxx

Tuna everyday though? Sardines are MUCH healthier and there's little to no mercury. Thank you for that breakdown, I need to eat MUCH more protein!

Should I eat about 125 grams of protein for my healthy goal weight, or should I have 180 grams of protein for my current high weight? I’m overweight, so do I eat approximately 1g of protein per pound of my current weight or my goal weight? Thanks

The recommendations are nonsense; it depends on your body composition. For example, I am 250 lbs of blubber (trying to get fit!). 1.2 grams per pound is 300 grams a day. even .7 grams is 175 grams, no one needs to eat that amount daily. I am eating between 120 and 150 grams a day and getting stronger , more muscular, and down 60 lbs. Far better to eat to your ideal body weight, or calculate your lean mass and apply to that and a little more for other functions.
