Transistor (BJT) Checking method, #Shorts
By using DMM (Digital Multimeter) we can check the Transistors, whether they are OK or Faulty,
Using DMM's Diode test mode,
Transistors are nothing but two back-to-back diodes connected in series,

Transistors are two types PNP transistors and NPN transistors,
Transistors have three terminals Emitter, Base, and Collector,

NPN Transistor checking method:

If we connect the Red probe of DMM to the Base of a Transistor, and the Black probe of DMM to the Emitter and Collector of the transistor one by one, Then the internal battery of DMM makes the PN junctions inside the transistor in forward-biased condition, So the DMM display shows a voltage drop of 0.5 to 0.8 volts,

If we Reverse the DMM probes means by connecting the Black probe to Base and the Red probe to Emitter and Base of the transistor one by one, Then the PN junctions inside the transistor gets reverse-biased, Hence the DMM displays OL (Overload) reading.

Also, check the reading between Emitter and Collector terminals, DMM must show OL reading,

PNP Transistor checking method:

Checking of PNP transistor is Just opposite to the NPN Transistor,
If we connect the Black probe of DMM to the Base of a Transistor, and the Red probe of DMM to the Emitter and Collector of the transistor one by one, Then the internal battery of DMM makes the PN junctions inside the transistor in forward-biased condition, So the DMM display shows a voltage drop of 0.5 to 0.8 volts,

If we Reverse the DMM probes means, by connecting the Red probe to Base and the Black probe to Emitter and Base of the transistor one by one, Then the PN junctions inside the transistor gets reverse-biased, Hence the DMM displays OL (Overload) reading.

Also, check the reading between Emitter and Collector terminals, DMM must show OL reading,

If the Transistor passes all these tests then we can consider the transistor "OK",

Ive an npn transistor here, but it shows not OL, it shows Voltages like the PNP Transistor. What is wrong? Its 100% NPN
