Portland citizen for 34years now. I can’t imagine a better place to live. I’ve done a great deal of traveling over the last 34 years, and always was so happy to be back in the city of roses.

It’s all those people that moved in that created 95% of the problems

Portland has its problems for sure. I don't like seeing all of the trash, tents, people sleeping on the ground, or the consequences of addiction. It has some issues in common with most urban areas and some issues unique to Portland. There is work to be done, and I wouldn't argue there isn't - particularly downtown as the video mentions.

BUT, I just don't think it's some hellish dystopian nightmare that's burning to the ground like some people claim. I've been exploring the city a lot lately, and there are a lot of areas that are growing and thriving. I've found a lot of small businesses to support. I've met a lot of artists who are able to make careers out of their work here. There's a lot this city has to offer, but not everyone is able or willing to cope with the bad to enjoy the good. That's completely valid and understandable. I'd love to see some things improved. I disagree with certain actions/inactions of the local government. But I'm not having difficulty finding beauty here.

Interesting, let’s check the tape on who Portland has voted for the last 20 or so years…

We stayed in an AirBnB last year near the rose garden. It was fine for the 4 days we were there. Maybe downtown is different but don't think you can't visit and enjoy the place.

Maybe we should keep Mike Schimdt as DA, Ted Wheeler as Mayor and make sure the commissioners are Progressive and... yeah.
This is the land of defund the police, decriminalize drugs and homeless advocate orgs that are clueless.
Voters, get your sh*t together. Demand your streets back and vote in some common sense for a change. It's a beautiful city full of great people. We just need some real leaders and voters that live on Earth.

Native Portlander here, I don’t even recognize this place anymore. Even the vibe is dark and oppressive. Bring back Portlandia!

Either move or vote differently. Those are your only two options

I’m sick of the Portland slander. Lived in the metro area my whole life, if you don’t like it get out.

Also live in Oregon, but usually its pretty calm for me, dont see too many homeless, it's because i live in the suburbs and dont have to go to big cities often, if you want to enjoy the place i'd suggest doing that

We did a family road trip to Portland in 2008 and it was lovely back then. Sorry to see it's turned into a cesspool.

Man, I used to love Portland. It was so beautiful and just amazing before 2012. Just breaks my heart to see where it is right now.
