In 6 months or a year, if that shower is regularly used, it won't look the same and you'll see the glaze of the silicone start to come off and you'll probably scratch it all out and that's a pain in the butt, because that's one of the problems with Silicone, and then you'll probably use an unsanded grout or an FA type grout that does sanded and unsanded. Or you can go to your local granite yard and have perimeter pieces made for niches like I do and then not only are you making the shower look better and matching solid surfaces, But you're helping water stay out of the niche.
