In general, its just good to nake your children something you would like to be named.
As OP said you shouldn't make a statement from your child's name. This will lead to them getting bullied. Kids can be brutal and your child will have a rough early life with a name like that. Childhood scars can last forever.

There are normal names that kids get bullied for. I would know since I have one. All those cute little giftshop necklaces, pins, keychains, mugs, etc I can find my given name. I hate my given name for all of the bullying I got for it, so from the time I was 8 I've gone by a different name. It was the first time I was given a choice. Even before that I made my family and friends call me a shortened version of my middle name. All that to say, having a name that can be ridiculed is terrible and people treating it like someone won't be upset or have to live with it is absolutely upsetting. And while the kid might not mind it, you really don't know. Changing your name is expensive. I don't think OP is the AH. In my opinion, he is trying to protect his niece. Also, Krxstxl would make more sense as Xal if they need the X or some similar variation...π€·π»ββοΈ I still don't think it's fair for the kiddo.

NTA! What the hell. A child should NEVER be treated as a statement. Childhood trauma follows into adult hood. Not only that! But think about that childs future career. OP couldve gone to far witb the name calling but they are just tryin to save that child from years of bullying.

I said it once, and I will say it again. Make the first name a normal name and go ham on the middle name if you need to. A human can live their whole lives not sharing their middle name with many people.
