Is it always easy? Goodness no! But that’s the point, relationships take investment and intention and a whole lot of grace, patience, hard work, sticking with it even when you don't feel like loving, kindness, honesty ... and what better place to learn and practice all of this than in your home. It's the hardest place to show unconditional love because it's where we all show up in our truest selves, but goodness it's the most valuable resource to invest in.

Don't wait for it to be easy to start doing life together, it gets easy because you've spent a LOT of time practicing together.

Practicing patience and silliness
Practicing listening instead of trying to be right
Practicing working together, and telling/showing how to do it 1 million times and being patient to show how one time more
Practicing grace when we mess up
Practicing how to play games and have fun even when we don't win
Practicing doing hard stuff and sticking with it

It is not easy, and that’s why it's such a valuable reward when life together is fun. We've been practicing and tripping up, picking each other back up, brushing off the hurt and frustration and choosing love and life together for a lot of years. So we take it as the highest compliment to be able to share the fun we're all having together, practicing love each day and finding so much joy a long the way 🧡

Don't give up because it's hard, it's worth the practice and it's never too late to start. Unplug and start with small doses of doing life together, start with the fun stuff and work your way into doing the hard work together too. Start with things you know your kids like, do it with them, pick easy things and keep your expectations low, there will be squabbles and trip ups!
