I feel like this is a symptom of a deeper problem, too. On the one hand, everything's trying to catch and hold your attention, so on a level we're being trained to have less patience just to make sure we're not being robbed of our time. But then on the other hand everyone's competing for attention themselves, so we have to move faster and faster just to avoid being left behind. We can't afford to hear everything out, and we can't afford to wait until the facts are in to form and share our opinions. It's a disastrous set of circumstances.

Satirical videos have this problem when it comes to the comments really badly too. The video might end with a very obvious signal that it's a joke, but people will still take whatever is in the video seriously, as if it's not a joke.
