The main event of the Dorome Festival is the ``Big Cup Drinking Contest,'' where you gulp down a large glass of ``Oranku Sake'' in one go. This is a dynamic and unique festival that spread the image of ``This is what Tosa people are'' all over the country.
Every April, famous drinkers from all over the world gather on the beach in Akaoka town, and in the Pacific Ocean, men drink 1.8 liters of freshly caught dorome (fried fish such as sardines and turmeric) as a side dish. Participants will gulp down five cups (0.9 liters) and compete for the overall score of ``time to finish'' and ``drinking amount.''
