It was honestly nice being able to hear a lot of these callbacks. I got the most excited when Dark Gaia was mentioned as Unleashed is my favorite Sonic game.

Honestly, them making callbacks to previous games makes the Lore of Sonic's world stronger and consistent, also them referencing the IDW comics makes it more apparent that the IDW Comics take place in the game canon and could one day be used as a luanching point for new Sonic Games with the Comic Characters being playable or at least having major roles in it.

I actually like the call backs. In fact, the other thing I liked about Frontiers was the focus of how many characters are present. We don't have Shadow, Blaze, Metal, Infinite, Silver, Omega, Rouge etc etc all clunking up the world, and it's more centered on the first characters that were introduced during the Genesis.

The referencing is just to bring the lore together, and they said that they want to merge all of the game's canon instead of just ignoring every title.
They probably will tone the referencing in the next title.

I honestly love the references they've made to all the games over the years. Older characters and visuals like Tikal, Dark Gaia and when Sonic met Knuckles all those years ago to the war with Infinite in Forces and the Sinister Six from Lost World.
It's a real show of respect and a tip of a hat to Sonic fans both new AND old.

Who was mad about this those callbacks were great and extremely unique in what they said or who they chose to talk about like silver, sticks, and even tangle this really help picture the new ideas that sets has for the sonic franchise
