Did you know about the Mangarh Massacre of 1913, a tragic event that occurred six years before the Jallianwala Bagh massacre? This video sheds light on the lesser-known but equally brutal massacre at Mangarh Hill, located on the Rajasthan-Gujarat border.

Govind Guru, a social reformer and spiritual leader, founded the Samp Sabha in 1883 to awaken political and social consciousness among the Bhil tribal community. By 1913, he called upon thousands of Bhil men, women, and children to gather at Mangarh Hill to demand justice—abolition of forced labor, religious freedom, and restoration of their sacred Dhuni (holy fire). However, the British colonial forces responded with ruthless gunfire, killing over 1,500 innocent Bhil people. Govind Guru was arrested and imprisoned in Ahmedabad Jail.

Today, Mangarh Hill stands as a symbol of resistance and sacrifice. Every year on Magh Purnima, people gather to honor the martyrs of this forgotten struggle.
