Good job. I usually replace those clamp on type with good crimp terminals and heat shrink. But when those parts and tools aren't available and you're out in the middle of nowhere, your solution is perfect.

This happened on a moped I had last year, engine was cutting out and would stip when breaking, thinking there was some fault at the break leaver, I had everything up there apart.

Out of ideas i just randomly flet around under the bodywork and the engine ground cable came out in my hand.

Ive learned from that.

I hate those clamp type battery terminals the are notorious for that problem, someone would owe me for a starter and a battery or at lease the labor that I paid for the work!

I ran into a similar issue on one of my jobs on the side of the road. The driver said it was an ongoing problem for 3 months and that nobody could figure it out. It ended up being a positive cable with a broken connection. Fixed it in 5 min. Dude was incredibly happy.

Had a car wouldn't start the engine ground ribbon was rusted would let enough current through for it to runn catch starting it.
Used like 6 strands of 10 gauge house wire and made a new one.

I had that issue on my 90 chevy when i went to leave the scrap yard. But it took like 2 minutes to diag because I immediately went to the ground cable. Took jumper cables from negative post to alternator bracket, fired right up and left
