I use older spices for dry meat rubs or in marinades. Even if the flavor is a bit diminished, just use more, it still ups your cooking game.
I think ppl are too hung up on optimal quality and finances are still tight for many. After major life altering events, many stocked up on seasonings & spices, so put them to good use. CrockPot or InstaPot meals are another good use. 😊

You can also use old spices for sachets and pot pourri as well as using cinnamon as rooting compound when starting new plants.

Trial size things can be used! And so can "expired" spices. A better mind set is this: don't buy anything UNTIL you use up some of what you already have. I have been working on that this year. Move that trial size bottle to your bathroom and USE IT UP.

I mention this because I struggle with the idea of waste. So in case it helps anyone feel better about getting rid of them, you can always donate those toiletry samples to womens & homeless shelters. Also, the spices are compostable so add them to your compost bin or simply sprinkle them on the ground if you don't have access to one.

One thing I've never heard mentioned to declutter is keys on my key chain. I was carrying around this big wad of keys and key chains. I never removed any keys or the rings that the cute decor had broken. One day I looked at my keys and realized I had about five keys I didn't know what they unlocked, and several rings. When I got rid of these, my key chain was so much smaller and easier to use.

I go through my spices a few times a year, so they get a full overhaul way before they go out of date. Mugs...we have some that came with the house we bought, and they have just been sold as part if the furniture when we sold our house. We use our own regular cups, they aren't mugs though.

I refuse to throw out my underwear just because there are holes! I’m wearing them until they disintegrate! 😂

Recommend mending those clothing items with holes! If they’re underwear and the hole is in an area that would be uncomfortable to patch, cut and sew them for use as floor or bathroom rags. Or as stuffing for other soft projects (I have dogs, so always have a use for them somehow). Any of these is prolonging the life and preventing it going to landfill!

I collect unused toiletries from hotel visits and drop them off at a women’s domestic violence shelter or homeless shelter.
