The only way to reliably and quickly prevent a dog from pulling is to use a head-halter (Gentle Leader). My rescue is 5 years old and had at least 2 owners before me. She is the most stubborn dog I've ever met and no amount of discomfort/pain (slip lead or prong collar) would prevent her from pulling. She would literally injure herself to go forward (kept choking herself on the slip lead). Since the head-halter actually pulls her head in a different direction when she tries to pull, she gets immediate correction every time she's doing something she shouldn't; pulling, leaning down to sniff, going off course, doesn't matter, her head moves and she knows to obey.

if you read this... could you please address how much sniffing is OK when on a walk? my 9 month old dog actually walks on a loose lead but stops every 5 to 10 seconds for sniffs and pees. How much of that is ok?

I’ve tried different ways of interrupting the behavior! When it does get his attention it works for the next 4 seconds then he just pulls again😂 🤦♀️. It would take me 9 hours to do my 1 hour walk.
So what ARE the ways to interrupt that you recommend. I used to think it was easy for years and other people didn’t know how to do it. Then God/the Universe said, oh ok, here’s Simba! I apologize to every person I thought didn’t know😂😂. I just had 15 years of pretty good d

I’ve tried every video to get my dog to not pull.. I use a slip leaf, I change directions when he pulls, I’ve even done it where you change directions and then give them a good yank when they don’t change with you.. I’ve also tried giving him a treat when he’s right next to me so he knows to stay by me… doesn’t work. I’ve works at a dog training facility and my dog just does not understand not to pull. Wish somebody knew a better method that worked better

I thought my girls loose leash walking with just regular flat collar and walking on the neighborhood is just amazing. However she gets completely nuts when she is in the store or any crowded place. Is it a puppy stage does it get better once they grow older

My Dog knows how to heel,however she only does it either for food or when she feels like doing it.When she leaves the house to go for a walk she will pull. Help!

My dog when he was a puppy pulled my shoulder so bad I probably need surgery. Thankfully he's trained not and doesn't do it anymore. It's super important to teach them right away.
