Not all dollar stores are created equal

I shopped at a different dollar store this week and the cost of my meal reflects their higher prices.

I have been craving Chicken Cordon Bleu. Could I make it with items from the Dollar store? You bet!

Recipe
10oz pasta par boiled about 6 minutes 62¢
16oz Chicken Bites $2.00
1 Hollandaise sauce packet 1.00
6oz Spinach 62¢
Swiss cheese $2.50
Ham 2oz packet x 2 $2.00
1 cup milk
1/2 stick of butter

Prepare the chicken bite cook according to package directions until thoroughly cooked and crisp

In the baking dish
Slice ham and 1/2 of the cheese, combine with 6oz of spinach, and 10oz of prepared pasta

Mix the Hollandaise sauce, 1 cup milk and 1/2 stick of butter. Microwave sauce mix until melted and incorporated.

Pour sauce over mixture in the baking dish.

Stir to combine

Cover with foil
Bake along side the chicken bites at 400° 25-30 minutes

Remove both the chicken and the baking dish from the oven.

Place the chicken bites atop the pasta mixture. Cover the chicken with the remaining swiss cheese.

Return the baking dish to the 400° oven 7-10 minutes to melt the cheese.
