In the series of Clone wars this also happened often, but also in Order 66 when they attacked the droids with Ki-Adi Mundi, so i would say that he wanted a clear line between Attackers and Defenders, because in those movies it was mostly in the way were they protected (Like on Naboo) while on Geonosis they attacked and were on the right and the droids on the left because defenders and attackers

Filoni/Corbett/Rau continue this in TheBadBatch, too. Someone pointed out elsewhere that in the masterfully crafted TheSolitaryClone S2E3 the same thing happens. We see the still Empire-loyal clones (Cody and Crosshair among them) attacking separatists from the left - as expected since we think of the CIS as the bad guys, right? It lures us in and then it subverts our expectations. Because by the end we (and Cody, for sure) have been forced to rethink who the real baddies are.
