How to make sure your template goes exactly where it needs to. I trace the centerline with an Ultra Fine Tip Sharpie by using a straightedge on either side of the neck, then use basic math and digital calipers to mark the rest of the locations, also with a Sharpie. Then I'll use a Gold Sharpie to make a dot right in the middle of the intersected points for visibility.
Line up the template, then use this trick with cauls + double stick tape to make a fence for your template to make sure it goes exactly where you had it when you lined it up. Grain alcohol or rubbing alcohol can be used to remove the Sharpie marks after routing, as long as you're not dealing with a nitrocellulose top. Modern 2k poly finishes are impervious to alcohol, so Sharpie can be used safely, and is very helpful.

Ok ok l got it. Had to watch it twice to see exactly where you're coming from on this. But l get it now. l have to admit, l just usually switch off my targeting computer and use The Force. But l definitely see where this has it's merit.
