Itâs not just a dance especially to kids. You only get four (unless you go to multiple a year like me) homecomings and itâs a life long memory for us. Yes. Kids will remember high school for the rest of their lives. It's his first high school dance. Plus, she doesn't have to go home after dropping him off. Take the other kids and go to a movie and dinner or something. She should let her kid get all the joy he can out of high school before he has to become an adult.

This mom is being so incredibly selfish. I understand being frustrated at the little time you get but a part of the high school experience is the dances and she wants to take that away. I willingly decided to not go to my homecoming freshman year and then regretted it. Her son is going to hate her for making him miss out

so it seems like that is keeping him from experiencing a normal rite of passage because his parents made a decision to be divorced - don't punish him over a situation that he had no say in. - outside looking in
