Do you want to live permanently in the icy conditions of Greenland? Greenland is not green?! The name Greenland is an early marketing term.
Greenland was named by Erik the Red, a Norse explorer who is credited with colonizing the island in the 10th century. Legend has it that Erik the Red named the island "Greenland" in an attempt to attract settlers.
He hoped that the appealing name would entice people to come and settle on the island, despite its harsh Arctic conditions. However, the exact reasoning behind the name is still debated among historians.
Some theories suggest that Greenland might have had more vegetation and a milder climate during Erik the Red's time.
Today, Greenland is known for its vast ice sheets, glaciers, and Arctic climate rather than green landscapes.
