I use 30-06 for long distance and have always had good luck with it. However Iβve been thinking of going with the 338 lapua lately and will probably get one when I can afford to throw 6 grand at it and not worry about it. My cousin like the 6.5 Grendel and wants me to consider it but if Iβm dumping money in like that I might as well go with the 338

This was interesting but can you do something like this with all common size ammo for like hunting or defense Iβm America?

Just reload you'll save money and this no-factory ammo can match a tuned reload in accuracy or performance. It's the difference between a suit that is bought at a big box store compared to a custom-tailored suit. So tailor your ammo to your rifle, you'll get much better performance out of it.

Disappointed that .308-Winchester, match grade, 175 grain did not make the list. One of which is the Federal Gold Medal Match cartridge. Often used by police SWAT snipers.

308 match grade ammo have been used in the military for long distance shots since World War II same with 30 Ott six Iβm sure some Brits have made some pretty long shots with British 303.

All those rounds are about $3 per bang, minimum. IF YOU CAN FIND THEM!! Besides, we are not in the military and we are not sniping at ranges of 500+ meters. For regular use, a simple .308 or .30-06 or .270 or .243 will do JUST FINE!!

I hunted just about everything with a 300 Winchester mag . And an old 30 30 Winchester for the brush . My pistols were a .22 Hi standard ,and a model 29 Smith and Wesson 44 mag.

I have a Ruger precision in 338 Lapua she is a beautiful rifle the Hornady match ammo is very good ammo I bought some when i got it $100.00 for 20 rounds that's $5.00 a shot so I keep my brass and reload it with Hornady 250 grain bullets and Hodgens powder cheaper and my reloads are just as good

I used to use the 338 Win Mag with a 250gr Lapua ,it did well out there ,but not as well as those big boy's...π

338 lapua. When you need to hit something very far away with massive power. It is best to place your wallet a distance away from your firing position. That way, the clap of thunder from your empty wallet slamming shut does not add to the sound of the gun. :;)
