As far as handsewing, you can 100% measure the spacing and mark it with a pencil to start out.
You can also use iron-on hem tape and then handsew it to reinforce and it should be washable

The easiest way I found to learn hand sewing was from people who dress historical like Bernadette Banner! When I searched for hand sewing tutorials it mostly came up with ones for sewing machines but I had more luck looking for historical sewing. And libraries often have books on how to sew!

I can 100% vouch for hand sewing, I made a maxi skirt back in May, repurposed a dress I had into a skirt, and will be making my Halloween costume when I get the fabric for it. you don’t need a sewing machine, you can do it!!

Btw you don't have to take apart the clothes you wanna clone, just trace the pattern with a needle tracing wheel onto the paper, then add seam allowance

I am currently living abroad and couldn't bring my sewing machine with me, so stitching by hand is my only option and it works really well! If you make the stitches small and even, it might even look better than machine sewn
