This is the price of not convicting Trump for his crimes, as any citizen would have been given the things he's done. They shied away from jailing an ex-president, and now that he's got back into power he doesn't need to cajole his citizen supporters to do his dirty work, he controls all the federal law enforcement to do heinous things and because they are official institutions (albeit led by ludicrous hand picked henchmen like Kash Patel, totally unsuitable for such a position) they give people a strong impression of authority, of validity, no matter how dishonest & inappropriate the way Trump uses them is. He lied and lied and lied, and many Republicans said it didn't matter, he was just being silly and didn't mean it, but now he says that an American city is a war zone and it doesn't matter that it's a blatant lie because he can get away with it; he is a dictator.
