Mascara and other eye makeup products can sometimes get trapped under the eyelid and be absorbed into the eyelid tissue.

It's essential to be cautious when applying eye makeup and to remove it thoroughly using gentle makeup removers specifically designed for the eyes. Additionally, practicing good eye hygiene and avoiding excessive rubbing or touching of the eyes can help reduce the risk of makeup particles getting trapped under the eyelid and absorbed into the eyelid tissue. If you ever experience discomfort or notice makeup residue accumulating under your eyelid, it's a good idea to consult with an eye care professional for guidance and proper care.

I ALWAYS used to (until now!!) sleep in my “super-long-wear, waterproof" mascara. Thanks for informing us about this. I'll always remove it before bed now, Doctor. Thank you!!!

I have this too. I haven’t worn makeup in years and I asked my doctor about it. I couldn’t believe it

You’ve got one of the greatest platforms ever! My ops are great but you explain and discuss problems in an effective way that instills me with courage to attack my eye problems that I’ve suffered with for years. Thanks so much 🤓

You saw embedded makeup in my eyelid during my eye appointment. I rarely have worn any makeup the last 3 years so that did surprise me. After I left, I did wonder if it is possible to remove that or is it permanently stuck there? Also, if it is embedded, is that causing constant inflammation?

Thanks very much for that! I've always been asking other people about eye make up for the same reason. I was in "Specsavers" looking at glasses designs once, and a member of staff walked over to me with glitter on their eyelids. Needless to say, I had to criticise the situation! She was very grateful that I pointed it out.

How do you remove that old make up from the inside lids?

I saw a makeup tutorial, she applied a special liquid liner that helped the magnetic false lashes stay on. I wonder if there are problems with those?

I haven't tried mascara for decades. I used it a few times. Will an ordinary eye exam reveal this? I don't wear contacts.
