As a guy with adhd myself, Mike's dx does not surprise me. He strikes me as a high stimulation seeker, albeit toned down with age and channeled into positive pursuits. Whatever his struggles in the past, I think some of the adhd characteristics nicely feed in to the fun, edgy parts of his personality.

I'd love for Dr. Mike to have a conversation with Dr Russell Barkley about ADHD. He's probably one of the most renowned experts in ADHD and approaches it with a keen evidence-based eye and compassion.
I think they could do a lot to talk about ADHD, personal experiences living with ADHD, how symptoms come and go for most people over the course of their lives, and the research of exercise and ADHD.

I have been diagnosed with ADHD when I was like five years old and eventually they told me I need to take other things like Focalin or Ritalin or other other ADHD medication that give you anxiety they donât give you an appetite. Low sex drive your focused as hell and yeah, it works, but you donât feel like youâre human when you have ADHD your mind races your body races. Your decision-making can be influenced, but to be honest if youâre a good person and youâve been studying the arts of social cues and have been around people for a long time and have good parents and a good community. The ADHD will actually be your greatest weapon because you can use it in. The most best situation is ADHD is basically a defense mechanism against hard decisions and you can use that and twist it if you train yourselfyou donât need drugs to handle it

My parents were overly praising me when I was a kid, saying even things that weren't fully true.
Later when reality hit and I realized a lot of it is just made up by them and I have problems that contradict those things, for an amount of time I just didn't want to tell them not to break their heart.
Physical health, ADD, and lots of random specific things included.
In my view it was an unspoken mutually agreed upon domestic narcissism that ran in the family, especially my dad, where they constantly made up things to brag with, and got attached to it via lots of repetition.
It feels good to believe those things, but once you realize they are not true, you'll have a serious identity crisis, as I needed to have multiple times.

can you make a deeper dive into ADHD? do you have any opinions on it? since it's a spectrum where does it end and regular procrastination starts? there is the inattentive type that sometimes comes up later in adulthood when people have added responsibilities. I was told by a general practitioner there is a chance i have it based on my history (university and work), but i can't help but think im just making up excuses.

I know people are well meaning when they push skills, tools, techniques, and mindset for ADHD. However, ADHD brains are literally different in form and function.
Relying solely on mindset for ADHD symptoms is like asking a Type 1 diabetic to will power up better pancreas function.
If only we had conscious control of our neurochemicals. Then, try harder might actually work.
