Once upon a time I would have disagreed with this petition. The Olympics are meant to showcase the most exceptional athletes from around the world and bring nations together for friendly competition. Equestrian sports are supposed to highlight that acute bond between a horse and rider, to show how two species can communicateâŚ..but greed destroys all things. The Olympics isnât about the excellence of you and your horse, itâs about how much brutality you can exert on your horse to get it to do what you want out of fear instead of mutual respect and understanding so that you can win a shiny medal and you or your sponsors profit monetarily. We arenât watching athletes compete anymore, weâre watching brand ambassadors compete, and the horses are taking the brunt of it.
Petitions sometimes work, but boycotts work better. Donât watch the Olympics, donât purchase from companies that sponsor it.

Consider it signed! I was unfortunately fell victim of an abusive trainer. I regret it so much and I feel horrible for the horses I abused even if I didnât know it was abusive. My first ever trainer rides not Olympic level, but a high level of competition. Since she was my first trainer, I thought everything she would do was normal and how itâs supposed to be. She would yell at horses who didnât listen, whip horses to get them to go rather than using aids, and make them work for hours with not even a water break on days that were 100+ degrees which wasnât only dangerous for the horses, but for the riders, I remember almost throwing up and passing out from heat exhaustion. She would only allow very short water breaks for me, she also told me to do up the noseband very tight. I didnât notice the signs until 1 year into riding. I switched barns which I canât be more grateful for that I made that choice. Iâm still with my new trainer and sheâs so, so, so much better and kinder. My first trainer wasnât even Olympic level and Olympic riders are so much worse, horses shouldnât be in Olympics if theyâre just going to be abused for money.

I HATE horse/animal abuse, its absolutely disgusting. Especially the "Pro" riders who beat, abuse and neglect their animals. Its unacceptable how these people treat their horses. And the fact that he just beat his horse 42 times!? Like wtf was he thinking!? Anyways Raleigh thank you for taking action and actually speaking up about the abusive Equestrian industry's like Olympics, big lick, racing, and much more! You are an amazing person Raleigh â¤â¤â¤thank you for being hear.

I went and fact checked on Google because I don't normally watch high-level events; not only is abuse a problem within Olympic riders, but most FEI/USEF-officiated high-stake competitions involve overworking and overbreeding the horses. Signing this now, for the sake of all normal animal lovers not trying to make ridiculous profits off of these beautiful creatures.

I signed it. This is outrageous what âpro ridersâ are doing. At that point just get a mechanical horse since thatâs how they see their horses. Sure some of them are good riders, but their horsemanship, which matters more than anything, is nonexistent. No excuses can be made by these grown adults.

Yes, there are a lot of abusive people, but they also good people that actually care for example I had to sell my horse yesterday and it was really really hard for me. I hugged him. I was crying with him for like two hours straight and right now I am working on finding him the best owner a person who who cares and will love him and it is generally one of the hardest things I ever had to do and yes, many people are abusive and a very mean, but not everybody is like that
