I find this really interesting because my husband is autistic and so is my father. They do have similar traits, but my husband overcame the things that my father lacked. I hardly talk to my father and don't have a real relationship with him but my husband is my rock and foundation. It was almost like he healed a part of me that my young self really needed. Also my mom is my best friend (besides my husband) and we are very much alike.
I want to add that what he overcame happened during our marriage. That in itself was cathartic.

Exactly how it turned out for me. An unreliable mom who abandoned us, and a dismissive avoidant wife who would never meet my securement needs. Eternity isnt long enough for either to change. Just had to let them go
