I colourised this from the ending scene of Festival - the CBC Blues special filmed (almost 58 years to the day) back in January 1966. I've changed the aspect ratio through this version after colourising it to get rid of the text that was shown on the right hand side in the later 90s rebroadcast version. The outtake footage I have is sadly from a different take of this song so I couldn't use that.

Firstly, massive thanks to Bob the Juke as always for sending me through his copy to colourise.
'Bob Juke' has a great channel here:    / @bobjuke4216   (it's a must if you're into Blues & Jazz!) so subscribe!

Festival was a 1966 TV special starring blues greats Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry, Mable Hillery, Sunnyland Slim, Otis Spann, James Cotton, S.P. Leary, James Madison and Jimmy Lee Morris.

I don't make anything colourising and putting these videos together so please support the channel with the link here if you can its greatly appreciated! tr.ee/vDvH8nOpUB

1966: Paddy Sampson, a television variety producer with the CBC, convinced his bosses to bring in an assortment of blues musicians to make an hour-long program to be sponsored by Bell Canada. Sampson was a longtime aficionado of the blues and had done previous work with Brownie McGhee.

So on the 27th-29th Jan, 1966 the blues musicians were brought to Toronto by the CBC and spent three days performing and jamming in CBC's Studio Seven on Mutual Street.

Although many knew each other, it turned out to be the first time, and last time, these artists would work together under one roof.

If any videos get blocked I tend to post them on my other social media platforms, so have a look if you don't want to miss anything! All links are here: linktr.ee/blues.in.colour
