Big Al’s Pizzeria began its halal Lebanese American fusion restaurant in 2013 in Maywood, California. Then less than one month ago, the halal restaurant opened its second location a few minutes away from Chapman University in the City of Orange.
During my visit, I ordered one of their most popular items— a large Lebanese Garlic Chicken pizza. The 14-inch pizza fresh homemade dough, creamy garlic sauce, mozzarella cheese, shredded pieces of baked chicken breast, diced tomatoes, green and pink pickles, chopped parsley, and drizzled with buttermilk ranch. I also got a bottled juice soda. The total cost of my meal came to about $35. (Disclosure: Big Al’s provided a small discount towards my meal.)
Finally, Big Al’s ownership provided a verbal statement the restaurant only uses halal meat on their menu and does not sell alcohol at either location.
