It's the UK (and Ireland being heavily influenced by it). They were super conscious re. contamination because of their weird way of generating and storing hot water.

Katrina- when I first moved to Amsterdam in 1996 my house had toilets with a shelf in the bowl( I guess for admiring my 💩?). 😳
Thankfully modern Dutch toilets have eliminated that.
The separate faucets are sadly still to be found in Europe… especially the U

It’s not Europe. It’s the UK. They have separated the cold and warm water in case one of those get contaminated. It’s a system from long ago and for which they are too cheap and lazy to replace it. 😂
