I think with Fujimoto, he does it more as character development. Despite killing a lot of characters off and making his main character suffer, it still reflects on Denji and can be seen in his interactions, dialogue, etc. With Yuji, Gege uses suffering as a means of having Itadori mature and have his ideals slowly change. But I do think Fujimoto does the suffering better and in a more “controlled” manner.
