Any "persecution" that Joseph Smith faced as a teenager was because he was a treasure digger and a con man. The story that is told in Mormon scripture, Joseph Smith - History, is that he was persecuted for talking about the First Vision.

That's a lie because Joseph Smith does not have any written record, there's no indication that he told anyone, even his family, about the First Vision until he was an adult. Even the anti-Mormon literature of the time doesn't mention the First Vision.

So this story of "persecution" for telling about the First Vision - I think it's just cover for the trouble he got into for being a con man.

Well you can’t say it’s a lie that he was persecuted as a teen just because no one has written about it except for himself. If there was were documents from that time that said that he wasn’t persecuted for the first vision when he was a teenager then that’s proof. So you can’t say that’s a lie.
