I run "systemless" games a lot. Where I just have players write down two things their character is good at, one thing they're bad at, and some general description stuff. Then just do d20 advantage/disadvantage for what they're good/bad at.
Then I just give everyone a framing device and let them go wild with ideas interacting with it. One time I had players remodel a pirate ship. Another time they built a dungeon. Fun stuff like thatā¤

Its really sad people are taking this video as "you must stick to the rules and never houserule" when the obvious intent is "understand at least the bare minimum for the health of your table, and look at different systems if thats not possible for you."
Thank you for making this video, its just really unfortunate that few people can understand it.

My first time i just skimmed the guide book i was given, and had a basic understanding of the game. I didnt know what actions would require which stats but figured it would be relatively intuitive since i play a lot of rpgs. My party was really helpful and i learned the rules through playing. As far as im concerned as long as ur campain is simple and u have a good party u can basically just jump right in after getting some help making ur character. If u enjoy it and want to learn more than u can read up. My first character was a guy who got isekaied so it made sense in game why my character didnt know anything about the world. It led to a lot of funny things. I learned that a chest in an empty room is not just free loot lmao. I was like 12 btw.

People who ask me about it amd that have never done anything in this hobby. All they know is boardgames.
To them I say take two regular dice. 7 is average difficulty. Below 7 for stuff thatās routine or easy. higher than a 7 for stuff thatās above average in difficulty. Double 6ās critical success. Everyoneās character has a +1 bonus for some things and a +2 bonus for one stand out thing.
No character sheet needed! Piece of plain paper. Write a name and intro to your character, and someone takes the wheel and chooses a place and a person that is spoken to for a reason, and just get going with your story telling. Simple as that.
Rules slow down the roleplay enjoyment. Just act, narrate and let your imaginations run wild. Itās like being a kid again but the playground is your mind.

I've read the rules, reread the rules, and I'm STILL finding out stuff that I didn't know. Definitely need to read them through at least once to get the basics.
