This is why I’m so grateful my parents made us speak in Urdu at home for most of my childhood. Every time we spoke in English they would tell us so it helped us in the long term. Our Urdu still isn’t as great as it could be, but movies and even just listening to people talk has helped so much. I struggle most with reading it because sometimes I get it and other times I don’t but its like learning anew language while reading cuz I have to pause and stare at every word like a kindergartener

AHHHHHHH ITS THE SAME FOR ME! My family is from pakistan and speaks urdu, and i understand all of it and even some punjabi, but hardly speak it.i used to when i was younger, but when i went to school, it undid all of that. Im starting to talk in Urdu again and this has actualy really helped! Thanks so much!!!

As an Indian who lives in foreign... Imagine going to your home country where there is THE STRONGEST LANGUAGE BARRIER and you don't understand anything. My mom had to translate the conversation to understand them. And on phone, I couldn’t keep up. I was flummoxed all the time just cause of that. Needless to say, my relatives started to converse in English😂 so I didn't need to learn Hindi or my state's language
